Bright Colors

So I’m still playing along with the Freckles in April outfit prompts. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone else tell you what to wear :)

Today the prompt was bright colors, which felt a little bit like cheating for me because that’s like telling me to breath oxygen, or eat to much chocolate, or watch six episodes of Cake Boss back to back. I don’t need telling, these are just things that I DO. Still I copped out yesterday and wore something I’ve worn a squillion times before but I’m pretty sure I’ve never blogged it. So it still counts right? I’m also rocking a new hair cut, so I feel like I can go back a couple weeks, post the same outfit, and call it ‘new’ because new hair basically makes it a whole new outfit right?

Also thanks everyone for being so nice about the hair. My brain tells me that I will look ‘better’ with longer hair because I am a girl and that I should grow it out, but my heart knows I’m meant for a pixie cut. Which is why I keep hacking it all off. Even when I have different hair I still ‘picture’ myself with shorter hair. Is that weird?

Anyone else out there thinking about Valentine’s day plans? I’m not much of a romantic, but I think we are going to try something fun this year involving blanket forts (thanks for that inspiration Emma), maybe some Bollywood films (Ki was talking about them a little while ago, I LOVE me some Bollywood films but Curly-haired0-boy has never really watched any), maybe some easy homemade art I can hang on the walls, and definitely some heart garlands. And something for dinner. What is delicious simple Valentines food? I can make a mean curry but that is basically my only cooking skill. Yummy, but hardly ‘romantic’.

Ahhh I seriously love those tights.

We’re not very romantic either, but I’ve been thinking about what we’re going to do this V-Day…. Hey, curry sounds great to me! Indian food is my favorite…though I guess it’s not the most romantic…

Ha, I guess I’m mostly worried about the smell. Seems like things with strong smells generally aren’t ‘romantic’.

wow…you’re back to your cute pixie hair cut, nice! And I like your color block outfit, very well contrasted colors. Oh yes, valentine’s day, I’m sure you will think of a really fabulous plan to spend the day!

We try not to do anything ELABORATE for V-day, but I do like having special date night at any time. I just like to celebrate things :)

Love love love all the colors in this outfit, and I especially love those adorable heart tights. Having a new hairdcut definitely makes the same outfits look new! Hmm, you valentine plans sound like fun! I still have no idea what I’m going to do :S

We were going to try & keep it simple. But then my brain remembered it loves to plan things and before I knew it I was ordering origami paper & pinning romantic art…

The hair suits you really well. And it does make the outfit look new!

And what’s an example of “romantic” food anyway? Chocolate? I say make curry if that’s your forte. As long as you make the meal romantic, it will be romantic :)

    • http://hal.cyondays.com Loren Cline

Yeah… that’s what boyfriend said. He’s all ‘Whatever you make will be wonderful’ and then I punch him in the gut for being to sweet.

Aw, thanks for the shoutout :) May I recommend doing a Valentine’s picnic in your blanket fort? We’ve done lobster and fondue for past (different years) Valentine’s Days…

Looks like we’re channeling each other today, color-wise. I’m definitely rocking teal and red/rust colors too!

Lobster & fondue sound hard… but a picnic… that sounds easy! Some nutella & crackers, some deviled eggs, celery & peanut butter…

yayy! i’m so glad i inspired you to go to an art night (and so glad you had fun!) i think we all have a tendency to avoid the unfamiliar, but that’s where the best stuff lies, i think! so bravo, i’m proud of you :)

also i’m proud of you for this outfit. it’s so colorful and fun!

    • http://hal.cyondays.com Loren Cline

We did significantly less art and a lot more talking about boys than I expected but still it was inspiring.

What do you mean–curry’s not romantic? What says romance better than orange-stained shirts and mingling onion breaths?

    • http://hal.cyondays.com Loren Cline

Good point, I will also open a can of sardines, and make some onion chutney.

Not at all, I still picture myself with red hair. You should keep it short the pixie cut looks amazing on you.

I adore this colour palette and those wee hearts on your tights are super cute xo
