Dressy Jacket

Blazer, Skirt, Sweater: Thrifted, Tights: Target, Booties: The MALL (I went in there one time)

These photos aren’t great, the light was fading to quickly for me to keep my camera on the right settings. The prompt from Freckles in April was ‘Dress up a Jacket’ so I wore a cute blazer & floral skirt to work. It was to warm to wear a real jacket (64 degrees?!) But I don’t think this is what the prompt meant. I went for it anyway. I’ve worn this skirt & sweater together a couple times but it never felt ‘finished’. I think the blazer was exactly what was missing from the outfit.

I headed to a friends house shortly after I took these photos and she made me the most AMAZING pork chops. I provided the salad. Then we talked about boys, watched Marcel the Shell with shoes on, made plans for Super Bowl, and then LAUGHED and laughed and laughed. Girls nights are the greatest.

I was trying to think of other things to say so here are a list of little facts about me:

  1. If there were a movie about my life I think Carey Mulligan should probably play me.
  2. I’m currently obsessed with this Beyonce video.
  3. Every year for Valentine’s my father used to buy my sister and I Muth’s chocolates. They are local & they are amazing. He even had them delivered to us in college. Since he passed away in ’09 it’s been a tradition for me to send some to my sister. Just need to decide if I want to send her a lot of chocolate or a WHOLE lot of chocolate.

I love your boots and that skirt. So amazing. And did you get a hair cut? Your hair looks wonderful. I love Ms. Mulligan. She’s so freaking beautiful. It’s unfair. I would want Emily Browning to play me because people keep telling me we look similar and I think I see it and if not, she’s kind of a bad ass. But my life is kind of boring. Oh, and Beyonce is heaven sent and I think that’s a fact. Also the story about your dad and the chocolates is the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard. You’re a really awesome sister!

I wasn’t sure who Emily Browning was but I can totally see that! No one told me I looked like Carey Mulligan I just picked her because I’m in <3 with her.

Yes! Carey Mulligan reminds me of you (and not the other way around, ’cause you’re more important to me than an actress). You both have that adorable, short-haired charm.

The blazer dresses up the outfit a lot and looks good. And nothing beats a girl’s night out. I need more of them.

Everyone probably needs more girls nights :)

I seriously am loving your hair, it looks so good. That thrifted blazer is awesome; what a score! Also, I really like Carey Mulligan… I think she’s such a natural beauty and so talented. I can totally see her playing you.

That blazer is lovely and dressy, never mind that’s not what the challenge means. It’s all open for interpretation anyway.

Yeah I decided I looked cute enough so I went for it anyway ;)

Ha, I wasn’t going to post the link (because YOU just talked about Beyonce) but then I went home and watched it like 3 more times last night. Plus had it stuck in my head all day long.

I like this both with and without the jacket, but do agree that it adds a little extra dimension. Those are also some seriously cool tights. I’ve only ever seen tights like that done in black.

That’s the great thing about blazers. Instant put-together factor. It’s a very nice compliment to your cute floral skirt look.

I agree! You look like Carrie. But I think even more adorable :) I sort of like the dark and dreamy effect on your photos. I have been struggling with taking outfit photos before it gets dark too. I have taken to doing it inside.

Carey Mulligan- yes I can definitely see it! Aww I just started to watch the “Marcel the Shell” video and the voice makes me sad- so cute though! I love your floral skirt and the detailing on your white tights.
