What to Wear with: Red Boots

I love red boots. There I’ve said it. I hope my boyfriend forgives me because I’ve been going out with this skirt behind his back.

We go out on dates to the night clubs.

We sing Karaoke even in the grungy-ist of bars.

We go to family functions like thanksgiving.

We hang out on weekends with friends.

Sometimes it they even go to work with me.

Competitions & Video Cameras

Skirt: Body Central, Boots: Thrifted, Jacket & (Altered) Shirt: Target

Sometimes I manage to find that outfit with the perfect balance between girly-ness and toughness. Short floral skirt with tough combat boots, sexy fishnet stockings with a torn superhero shirt, nerdy glass, tattoo showing.

Sunday night Curly-Haired boy participated in a March Madness style competition between Louisville comedians. It was a lot of fun, they had a ‘One liners round’ then an ‘Insult round’ then a ‘Short Set’ round and then a ‘Long set round’. It was quick fun elimination, and because my boyfriend is super funny & well loved he came out the winner. The ‘prize’ is a short set at the comedy club later in the month. I believe it is a paid gig, (something like $20) but mostly I was proud of him for winning.

I really need to get a video camera so I can pester you guys and all of You-tube with video of how awesome he is. I’ve go the cheapest DSLR on the market so it doesn’t come with a video option. I was thinking of finding a small & cheap camcorder but if I go that route I may as well just upgrade from my cheapo phone to a Droid Smart phone right? Those things have crazy awesome resolution. And I doubt I’m going to use a camcorder often enough to justify a big fancy one.

What are your video recording needs? Does your phone give you satisfactory resolution?

Do I Look Like Indiana Jones to YOU?

Boots & Cardigan: Thrifted, Jacket: Old Navy, Scarf & Dress: Target, Awesome Deer Hair Clip: The Shop of Worldly Delights

We took our friend Jason out for his birthday on Friday. There was pizza for dinner, then to a musical zombie play, entitled Zombie!: The Musical. (Jason loves zombies, and plays. Any single ladies interested in a guy like that? Of course you are, I will hook you up next time you are in L-ville) We ran into a load of people we knew at the zombie play. I love that about Louisville. Once you have lived here a while you can walk into a gig on almost any given night and run into half a dozen people that you know. Or maybe it is just because Kent & I are awesome and everybody loves us.

Afterwards he came back to ours to watch Paranormal Activity 2. He and Curly-haired-boy have been trying to organize a man-date to see that movie since the third one was still in theaters.

The point of the story is that it rained crazy hard on Friday night and Kent pulled out a brown wide brimmed hat, because he is awesome like that. A friend accused us of coming from a costume party and asked if we’d both dressed as Indiana Jones.

Now I ask you… does this outfit anything like something Indiana Jones would wear? I think not! I am definitely the sexy but quirky love interest. Look at those boots! No proper adventurer would traipse around in those boots.

Blogger Inspiration: Get Your Red On

Todays Post was brought to you by…

Meanz, in high waisted red pantsKoi Story

Meanz is adorable, talented, a total sweet heart, and also has red pants.

Red Trousers & a Chambray top

Pants: Thrifted, Shirt & Shoes: Target, Necklace: Ten Thousand Villages

I love my red pants, but I’m still getting used to a chambray top. They are like the blue jeans for the upper body because they go with everything. I didn’t think of wearing the two together until I saw Meanz do it. So I totally bogarted that idea.

Per usual in Kentucky the pink dogwoods* are really looking great this time of year, and I really wanted to photograph in front of them. I’m only about 12% sure these are actually dogwoods, my parents ran an organic garden when I was growing up and my mother is studying to become a Master Gardener. I didn’t inherit their green thumbs though so I’ve never really been interested in plants. However, I am not going to take a clear enough photo of these blossoms for someone online to show me up with the actual name of the tree. Also, I don’t really remember what they looked like.

*Edit: Mom says they are red-buds.

Red Boots Are My Thing

Boots & Jacket: Thrifted, Dress: Dorothy Perkins

Red boots are my thing. I own at least three pairs. Which may prompt you to ask ‘How many pairs of red boots does one girl need?’ Enough, every girl needs enough red boots to satisfy her every boot wearing need.

So when Duc posted the latest ‘Art inspiration‘ I knew I wanted to play along. Because that little girl has red boots just like me!

The top of this dress is totally see through. I didn’t know that because I ordered it over the internet. They never tell you on websites ‘this dress is super cheap because only half of it has lining’ or ‘this dress is on sale because no one bought it because it totally see through’. It’s times like this I am glad the my top drawer is full of under ‘tanks’ (camisoles?) because I liked the dress to much to send it back (also no refunds on sale items).

I wear a lot of camisoles. I almost didn’t want to admit it to you blogosphere. Not because I am embarrassed of my camisoles, but because then you’ll all know the secret* of how to ‘fix’ that way-to-low-cut-shirt, or that-one-with-the-buttons-that-don’t-close-all-the-way. Then that cool stuff won’t end up in the thrift store where I can buy it for super cheap.
