Inappropriate Boots

Sweater: Thrifted, Skirt: Thrifted & altered, Boots: Consigned

I’ve avoided wearing these boots to work because they seem kinda… sexy. At least to sexy for the office. I decided to risk it on Monday and ran into the company owner’s wife, she works in the customer service department, on the way in the door.  She told me my outfit was adorable. So I feel like I was probably pretty safe after all.

I wear size 5 shoes and one of the best things about having little feet is all the options I seem to find in vintage stores. Especially in the BOOTS department. These are actually a little bit small for me (say what?) and after the FIRST time I wore them out Ian-dog destroyed the fabric on the heel off one of them. I went down to Hancock fabrics, picked up a little bit of faux leather and some outdoor modge-podge to mend it. You can barely even tell! But not so much that I will give you a close-up of the heel because you can TOTALLY tell.

    You wear a size 5?! Dang, I want dainty little feet that I can shove into all the old vintage shoes I find! These boots are really cute, and definitely sexy (but not overboard). Love the way you styled around them :)

      To be fair MODERN shoes are difficult to find in a size 5. So you win on the ‘walk into a regular store and buy shoes’ front.

    You seem to have struck a pretty perfect balance of lovely and (ha!) straigt laced with the rest of your outfit- the boots totally play nice. And reprimand Ian pup for me, I know the sadness of dog-bitten shoes. Miles once gnawed the entire pointy toe off of a pair if leather kitten heels. I’m very happy yours were saved.

      Awww man, the dog destroying the new shoes is just the WORST. Ian has only eaten a few pairs but every time it manages to be something new and awesome that I love and not those old ‘running’ sneakers that I’ve never actually run anywhere in.

      You know, from ‘normal person’ distance you can’t see the difference. From close up it’s totally obvious. Good enough to wear out though.

    Those boots look AWESOME! They are pretty wild, but if you pair them with something sweet like this skirt, they’re not too sexy at all. Well, still sexy enough that everyone at work will hit on you, but not sexy enough to get you reprimanded. Do people get reprimanded for being too sexy? That seems like an awkward conversation with the boss.

      My boss admitted that MANY years ago they wouldn’t hire ‘pretty girls’ and then he was like ‘but obviously THAT has changed.’
      And then I was like ‘Thank you?’
      I have not been reprimanded for being sexy I don’t think that’s something I really need to worry about.

    I think pairing them with the floral skirt and white tights really sweetens the look a lot and tones down the sexy. A miniskirt and no tights, on the other hand…save that for karaoke :)

    Stripes and florals = favorite! I’m jealous that you wear size 5! I always see amazing shoes at thrift stores in size 5 and wonder if they’ll ever find a good home. I think they’re definitely all right for work, too. They don’t have really high heels, right?

      The heels are very low. And I do have good luck with shoes in thrift stores loads of modern manufacturers have stopped making size 5s…

    I think these boots are gorgeous, the laces are so beautiful. I don’ t think it looks too sexy. You wore these boots with a cute striped top and pretty floral skirt which is so vintage chic. Of course i think you look sexy too not in a risque way but girly and cute.
