Loren’s World

Dress: Dorothy Perkins, Shoes: Target

Christina’s World by Andrew Wyeth

Jess & Duc do a little feature every week called ‘Style Imitating Art’. The inspiration this this week was so good that I really wanted to play along, especially when I realized I pretty much had the same outfit the girl is wearing.

Our weekend was a lot of fun, I completed some projects at home, we saw a play, sang some Karaoke, the UoL basketball team won a game that is important somehow (GO CARDS!). The weather was beautiful and I got to leave the door open and the heating turned off pretty much all weekend.

And this week is St. Patties day. Which means the bars were packed last weekend, and they will be packed again next weekend.

Another Day, Another Dress with a Belted Blazer on Top

Dress & Blazer: Thrifted, Belt & Shoes: Target, Scarf & Hat: Just Creations

I’ve accidentally on purpose worn very similar outfit every day for the past week or so, dress + belted blazer. It’s a combination of trying to wear all my cute dresses, and trying to stay warm. I pass all of my ‘fashion credit’ to Caitlin, who I think is the queen of the belted blazer.

A lot of internet ladies LOVE their cardigans. I’ve just never figured out how to wear them. I just think I look kind of strange in a cardigan. I think it’s because I have smallish shoulders, and a lot of stuff going on in the… you know… chest area. Believe me I am not complaining, I’m pretty much totally happy with my figure. However I think it throws off the proportions of certain items of clothing, like cardigans. I think the extra definition, and width that a blazer gives me is just more flattering on my figure. But maybe I am wrong and the one & only cardigan I own should have more friends in the closet.

Buttons Up the Wrong Side

Jacket, Belt, Dress, Hat: Thrifted, Necaklace: Just Creations, Shoes: Sears, Leggings: Target

Do you guys watch Parks & Recreation? We seriously love that show. The character Tom (who is short) makes a couple references to buying his clothes at Brooks Brothers Boys. Curly-haired-boy didn’t get this joke and thought it was just an overly familiar way to talk about Brooks Brothers. I explained that it’s their children’s clothing line. Which  made him guffaw.

I picked this jacket up at Goodwill. I was cleaning out my car a couple weekends ago and needed to drop off the SIX boxes worth of donation stuff I had back there. So I stopped in and glanced through the blazers my mind keen on finding a brown blazer (remember the shopping ban). I grabbed this one and even though it seemed a little short in the arms I snagged it for $5. because the pattern & cut were really nice, and it was completely lined.
I was examining the tag to see what material it was (feels like wool, but maybe just a heavy polyester). And you guys… it’s a Brooks Brother’s Boys. :)

Scallops & Lace

Tops: Thrifted, Skirt: Altered Hand-me down, Tights & Belt: Target, Shoes: Zappos outlet

I do follow the trends but I’m not the type of girl to run out and buy things the minute they show up in magazines fashion blogs (I never read magazines). Like shear lacy shirts, and scallop edged things. Which is why I have just now decided to jump onto both of those bandwagons, at the SAME TIME. I know that I’m full a season late, but it’s just that I’m SO cool that I’m even fashionable late to the fashion trends. I picked these up for three dollars each at Goodwill last week. Something about this outfit makes me feel really… small.

So what do you guys think, does scallops & lace sound more like an awesome music duo or a seafood dish at a fancy restaurant?

My Socks Don’t Actually Match My Sweater

Earrings & Bag: Just Creations, Sweater: Thrifted, Belt, Skirt & Knee Socks: Target, Shoes: Sears?

I thought of 75 different things to say about this outfit, but most of them were boring. Then I spent all last night working on our Halloween Costumes (I still need to make myself a tail) so this seems more interesting, faster and in the spirit of the holiday.

Halloween Little Things!! (Spooky Baby)

The past 6 years I’ve dressed as 80/90’s TV Cartoon Characters: (From 2010 backwards) Biker Mouse From Mars, Jubilee, Harley Quinn, (a not very good) Jubilee, Velma, also Velma (I have a giant orange sweater).

Favorite Candy: I love chocolate but 95% of the time I trade for something chewy over something chocolate, Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, Starbursts, Twizzlers, Laffy Taffy… Especially Laffy Taffy, it comes with jokes.

Biggest Fear: Real life – the dark, I can generally handle, snakes, spiders, heights, tight spaces, but walking down a pitch dark hallway in my own home? Pretty much terrifying.
Imaginary – Zombies, or maybe the Borg (sci-fi version of zombies) it’s the shambling, unstoppable, overwhelming mindlessness that freaks me out.
